Area 51 is a sativa-dominant hybrid.
I had two reasons for wanting to try this strain.
The first being its name!
The second reason was because all online reviews that I read mentioned that it was fantastic for relieving stress, depression, and pain.

I agree with other reviewers who rated this strain high for relieving stress, depression, and pain.
Sativa strains help reduce the nerve pain I occasionally experience due to a surgical error. Prior to receiving my medical marijuana recommendation, the nerve pain at the injury site was non-stop and unbearable. In the seven years of treating pain with cannabis, I only experience nerve pain when there in intense pressure pushing in a storm or extreme heatwave.
Area 51 hit me hard and fast!
The body high is outstanding! Within minutes of dry vaping this flower, my shoulders, neck, and scalp felt like they were receiving a massage.
The muscle relaxation that this strain provides is out of this world. Each night that I medicated with this strain, my back muscles felt like they had turned into butter and were melting off of my bones.
As for the head high, this strain provided a happy high. Whether I wanted to smile or not, I couldn’t stop smiling. It was as if aliens abducted my stress and worries and left me with nothing but joy and comfort.
I am rating this strain a five for pain relief, but want to explain why. Unlike opioids which mask pain, my experience with cannabis is that it relieves pain, but leaves a tingling sensation at the pain source(s).
At the time I tested this strain I injured my right knee (torn meniscus and ligament). All pain surrounding the injury was relieved, but felt a strong tingling, almost like having a TENS unit on high, sensation where the injuries were. This could be considered uncomfortable by some, but for me, it is a reminder to not overuse and to give extra care to my knee.
To eliminate the tingling sensation, I applied my minty cannabis oil before heading to bed.
I will medicate with this strain again. It has been beneficial during the summer months while dealing with heatwave pressure-induced nerve pain.
Scorecard 1-5, five being the best.
- Muscle Relaxation: 5
- Anxiety: 5
- Insomnia: 5
- Depression: 5
- Pain: 5
- Creativity: 4
- Focus: 3
- Relaxation 5 for body relaxation, 5 for mental.
- Sedation 4 Didn’t knock me out; instead allowed me to fall asleep when ready.
- Euphoria: 4
